You can't turn on the news without hearing about the possible swine flu epidemic. I am getting phone calls and e-mails from people asking what they should do to protect their family. So, I wrote this article to tell you what we are doing at our home. We are simply taking the same steps we would to avoid any type of an illness or outbreak.

You’d have to be an Ostrich not to know about the hubbub going around about the Swine Flu. I hope by the end of this article to set things in a better prospective than the media seem to be presenting.

We make a lot of jokes about PMS (like I do in this article), but the truth is that we need to respect the natural cycle of a woman's body.  If there are problems that arise with mensus, then this article discusses some emotional and physical remedies for them.

    Seven Stress Solving Secrets

Stress!  We all experience it from time to time in our life.  This past fall (2009) I've experienced my fair share of it, enough to make me feel pretty confident that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to stress management.  In this article I present seven secrets to managing the stress that inevitably comes into our lives.

    Cardiac Herbs: Beyond Hawthorn

Having encountered some pretty serious heart problems in some people very close to me, I've searched for years to learn more about cardiac herbs.  This article lists what I've learned so far about herbs that can help with heart problems, including very serious problems like tachycardia, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure.  I have been unable to actually locate a source for some of these remedies, others I have actually been able to source and use.  This is an advanced article, which includes information about some toxic botanicals that have to be used in a very professional manner.  I hope you find it useful.

I believe the hiatal hernia is one of the underlying causes of many people's chronic health problems.  I've written an extensive article on this problem, found on this website, but here are two video presentations (featuring my wife Elena before we were married) showing how to identify and correct a hiatal hernia.

Cancer is a very difficult illness to treat and one that causes a lot of emotional stress.  I don't treat cancer, but I do provide people with education about alternative or complementary methods of dealing with it, so they can make informed choices about what they should do.  Part of my goal in helping people with cancer is to empower them to take control of their own life and start making their life pleasant and enjoyable to them.
In this article, I cover two topics.  The first is why I believe that cancer is so prevalent in modern society.  It deals with the energetics of cancer.  The second is what I have observed is the typical emotional state of the cancer "victim."  I put the word victim in quotes because there is often a self-martyring victim mentality in the cancer patient.  I find that changing the cancer person's attitude is an essential part of their healing process.

    Energy

The world has gone crazy for “energy drinks”. But, are they harming or helping you?  In this article Mary Born discusses the problems with energy drinks and more natural alternatives.

The use of medications to keep children in line in school has become extremely widespread.  Often these medications are used to try to resolve normal behavior problems in children that can easily be solved by other means.  Good nutrition, exercise and better parenting techniques can all be helpful in these situations.  Even with true ADHD, there are natural strategies that can resolve the problem without drugs.

Contrary to what I was taught many years ago, one can get habituated to stimulant laxatives like cascara sagrada and senna.  Traditional herbalists always regarded these herbs as remedies for occasional, not daily use.  I've met many people who can't go to "go" without using these substances, and I don't regard this as healthy.  The goal of herbal medicine should be to restore the body to normal function, not make it dependent on a remedy for daily use.  This article explores strategies for restoring normal bowel function without using stimulant laxatives and includes a detailed explanation of a new formula I helped to create called Gentle Move.
