Here's some sage advice on finding happiness in life from two of my mentors in the field of natural healing, Dr. Michael Brenay and Dr. Rodney Alsop: "Apples up, stars in your eyes, chest out, hang onto your silver dollar and glide down the glory road of life with a gratitude attitude."  This article explains what this sentence is all about.  It's great advice for anyone going through tough times.

Stress!  We all experience it from time to time in our life.  This past fall (2009) I've experienced my fair share of it, enough to make me feel pretty confident that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to stress management.  In this article I present seven secrets to managing the stress that inevitably comes into our lives.

New Year is a time when people traditionally make New Year’s resolutions. Unfortunately for most people their resolutions will be long forgotten by the time Valentine’s day rolls around in February.  So, even though I wrote this article just prior to the New Year, this article isn’t about New Year’s resolutions. It’s about having vision and purpose. It’s about defining what you want to experience with your life in general.

From time to time we see negative publicity about herbs and supplements claiming that they are “unregulated.”  Ignoring the fact that herbs and supplements are regulated (and rather heavily I might add), I’d like to address this whole idea of “regulation” being a good thing.  Why should government regulate everything in the first place?  We have become a nation where we are over-regulated and we need to start taking a stand against the government continuing to interfere with our inalienable rights.  Just because the majority of people believe something doesn't mean they have the right to force anyone to conform to that belief.  This is not only true in health care, it's true as a general principle.

Darla sent out an email today, updating all of us, including me on a tragic event that occurred last Friday.  Her husband was shot and killed by a policeman.  It was a tragic accident and this is her account of what happened.  I have added a comment of my own at the end.

This is an article that was written from the depths of my heart and my pain.  It is not a "nice" article.  I use some pretty harsh words (including the "f" word) and language to make my point.  It has a goal, however, which is to try to help women see into men's hearts and the pain and hurt men usually bury and hide from women.  Because men have been trained from childhood to "take it," to hide their pain, to tough it out, to try to be strong, it is difficult for men to share what is deep in their hearts.  I have been in men's healing groups however, and I know that men have deep feelings.  They just have a harder time expressing them, a harder time opening up.

I hope that this article will help soften women's hearts towards men.  I'm not suggesting that women put up with abuse, neither sex should not tolerate abuse, but I am suggesting that women realize that they are half the problem in relationships.  It's not all "men's fault."  I hear all the time from women how men abuse them, use them, etc. and yet, I watch these same women be attracted to abusive men who are users and label them "real men."  I also know many kind-hearted, devoted guys who have been emotionally abused, used and "beaten up" by women.  Many women don't realize how abusive they really are because they do not understand a man's vulnerability.
 
This article may offend you.  I'm sorry if it offends you, but it is written from the depths of my own heart as a man, a man who has tried to be honest, caring and loving his whole life.  I am a man who paid his child support in divorces, a man who really loved his children, a man who really cared for and sacrificed for his family, a man who gave his heart freely and lovingly in relationships and a man who feels unwanted and unappreciated in this modern world.

This article is a call for us to soften our hearts to each other, to be less materialistic and less self-centered.  This world is falling apart because people's hearts are becoming cold, hard and selfish.  We are being programmed to be that way by media and messages in society.  We're told to "have it our way."  This is not love, it is self-centeredness and it is destroying the fabric of our society.  It is tearing marriages apart and destroying families.
